MATTHEW ELTON AND BIOTWIN INC: LOWER-CARBON CONSTRUCTION WITHOUT THE INDUSTRY THEATER

Matthew Elton is building BioTwin Inc to engineer lower-carbon construction — creating deployable solutions that work within how the world already builds, rather than asking the industry to reinvent itself.

Construction is one of the world's largest sources of emissions, but it is also one of the most inertia-heavy sectors. The limiting factor is rarely ambition. It is adoption: procurement cycles, risk management, labor skill mixes, and the simple reality that projects cannot pause reality while waiting for a perfect new material science breakthrough.

BioTwin develops bio-based materials and systems that reduce the carbon footprint of construction without disrupting existing workflows. The strategy is pragmatic: meet the industry where it is, reduce switching costs, and earn scale through repeatability rather than through manifestos.

The company is Seed-stage with funding in the $500K–$3M range and is currently pre-revenue in the sense of early commercial ramp — a phase where the technical and regulatory foundations must be laid carefully, because construction punishes shortcuts.

Elton's thesis is direct: the construction industry does not need another round of "reinvention" rhetoric. It needs deployable solutions that fit how the world already builds — and that can be verified in the field, not only in a lab.

BioTwin Inc is a bet that climate progress in the built environment will be won by teams that combine scientific credibility with operational humility — and that the highest leverage is often the least glamorous: materials and systems that slip into existing practices and still move the carbon curve.
